Een stukje geschiedenis
Built in 1925 with funding from Lebanese Jewish philanthropist Joseph D. Farhi, the synagogue was named after his father, Abraham. It was a central place of worship for Beirut's Jewish community, which numbered around 5,000 before the Lebanese Civil War. The war caused severe damage, and the synagogue was looted and abandoned until restoration began in 2009.
