Een stukje geschiedenis

The fort and chapel were built between 1622 and 1638. The fort was already partly built during the unsuccessful Dutch attempt to capture Macau from Portugal, providing a firing position against naval attacks. The lighthouse, constructed between 1864 and 1865, was the first western-style lighthouse in the Far East, southeast Asia, or on the China coast. In 1998, frescoes with both western and Chinese themes were uncovered in the chapel during conservation work.
