Kiautschou Governor's Hall

Kiautschou Governor's Hall is a former German colonial government building in Qingdao, China. It was built between 1904 and 1906 and originally served as the naval and civil government office for the Kiautschou territory. The building later became the Japanese occupation headquarters after the Siege of Tsingtao in 1914, and was used by the Japanese again from 1938 to 1945. It served as Qingdao's townhall until 1992.

The building was designed by German architect Friedrich Mahlke and constructed from 1904 to 1906. It was officially handed over to the administration on April 2, 1906. Originally known as Gouverneurspalast (Governor's Palace), it housed the Kiautschou naval and civil government. After the Siege of Tsingtao in 1914, it became the Japanese occupation headquarters until 1922. During World War II, it was again used by the Japanese from 1938 to 1945. It later served the Kuomintang government and, after June 1949, the People's Republic of China, functioning as Qingdao's townhall until 1992.
