Forte de Sao Diogo

Een stukje geschiedenis

Construction of Forte de Sao Diogo began in 1609 under Portuguese rule to protect Salvador's coastline. It was later expanded and saw action during the Dutch invasions of the 17th century. The fort remained in military use until the 20th century.
