Trevi Fountain

The Trevi Fountain is a masterpiece of Baroque art and one of Rome's most beloved landmarks. Spanning nearly 50 meters wide, it depicts Oceanus, god of water, riding a chariot pulled by sea horses and guided by tritons. The fountain is set against the backdrop of the Palazzo Poli, creating a dramatic theatrical effect. Visitors are drawn to its intricate sculptures, the sound of cascading water, and the tradition of tossing a coin over the left shoulder to ensure a return to Rome. By day, the fountain glistens in the sunlight; by night, it is beautifully illuminated, offering a romantic atmosphere. A bit of history

Commissioned by Pope Clement XII in 1732, the fountain was designed by Nicola Salvi and completed in 1762. It marks the terminus of the Aqua Virgo aqueduct, which has supplied water to Rome since 19 BC.
