Colosseum

The Colosseum is the largest ancient amphitheater ever built and a testament to Roman engineering. Originally capable of holding up to 80,000 spectators, it hosted gladiatorial contests, animal hunts, and public spectacles. Today, visitors can explore the arena floor, the underground hypogeum where animals and gladiators were held, and the upper tiers offering panoramic views of Rome. A bit of history

Construction began under Emperor Vespasian in AD 72 and was completed in AD 80 by his son Titus. It was used for centuries until the fall of the Roman Empire, after which it was repurposed as a quarry and later a Christian shrine.
