The Metropolitan Cathedral of Lima, located on Plaza Mayor, is the city's principal Catholic church and a masterpiece of colonial architecture. Construction began in 1535, and the building has undergone several renovations, blending Renaissance, Baroque, and Neoclassical styles. Inside, visitors can explore its three naves, 14 side chapels, and the ornate choir stalls. The cathedral also houses a museum with paintings, sculptures, and liturgical objects. It remains an active place of worship and a key historical landmark.
