The Monument to the Unknown Soldier in Baghdad is a modernist memorial dedicated to Iraqis who died in war. Designed by Iraqi architect Rifat Chadirji, the structure resembles a traditional Iraqi shield (dira'a) resting on a concrete platform. The shield is made of curved steel and concrete, with a central opening that frames the sky. Visitors can walk around the monument, see the eternal flame, and visit the underground museum that displays artifacts and photographs. The site offers a peaceful atmosphere for reflection.
