Sanggar Agung

Sanggar Agung, also known as Hong San Tang, is a Chinese temple in Surabaya located within the Pantai Ria amusement park. It is a place of worship for Tridharma followers (Confucianists, Buddhists, and Taoists) and has become a tourist destination. The main icon is a 20-meter-tall statue of Guan Yin on the waterfront, and there is also a giant gold-covered Phra Phrom statue.

A bit of history

A temple called Kwang Kong Bio was built about 500 meters south of the current location in 1978. The temple moved three times until Sanggar Agung was built in its current place in 1999, inaugurated during Chinese New Year. The giant Guan Yin statue was built two years later. The Phra Phrom Stupa construction began in July 2003 and was inaugurated on November 9, 2004.
