The Széchenyi Chain Bridge is a landmark suspension bridge spanning the Danube River between Buda and Pest. Completed in 1849, it was the first permanent bridge across the Danube in Hungary and a marvel of 19th-century engineering. The bridge's massive stone lions guard each entrance, and its iron chains support the roadway. Walking across the bridge offers stunning views of the river, the Buda Castle, and the Parliament building. At night, the bridge is beautifully illuminated, creating a romantic atmosphere. It remains a symbol of Budapest's unity and progress.
