The Odeon of Herodes Atticus is a magnificent Roman theater built in 161 AD by the wealthy Athenian Herodes Atticus in memory of his wife. Carved into the southern slope of the Acropolis, its stone seating and three-story stage wall create exceptional acoustics. After extensive restoration, the theater now serves as a premier venue for the Athens and Epidaurus Festival, hosting concerts, ballet, and ancient Greek dramas from May to October. Visitors can admire its grandeur from outside during the day or attend a performance for an unforgettable evening experience with the floodlit Acropolis as a backdrop.
