The Acropolis Museum, opened in 2009, is a modern archaeological museum located at the foot of the Acropolis hill. Its glass floors allow visitors to view excavations beneath the building. The museum displays artifacts found on the Acropolis, including the original Caryatids from the Erechtheion, the Parthenon frieze sections still in Greece, and votive offerings from the sanctuary. The top-floor gallery is aligned with the Parthenon itself, offering a direct visual connection. The collection spans from the Mycenaean era to the Roman period, with highlights like the Kritios Boy and the Moschophoros. The museum provides context and detail that enrich a visit to the Acropolis itself.
