A bit of history
Originally laid out in the 16th century as a kitchen garden for the Berlin Palace, Lustgarten was later redesigned as a formal pleasure garden. It has been the site of political rallies, including Nazi mass gatherings, and was heavily damaged in World War II. Post-war reconstruction transformed it into a simple lawn, which remains today.
