The Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral, a stunning blend of Gothic, Baroque, and Neoclassical styles, stands on the site of the Aztec Templo Mayor. As the largest and oldest cathedral in the Americas, its construction spanned nearly 250 years, resulting in a unique architectural fusion. Visitors can explore its 16 chapels, each with ornate altars and paintings, and see the massive organ. The cathedral's sinking into the soft lakebed soil adds a poignant layer to its history, with ongoing restoration efforts visible.
