Quyuanfenghe

Quyuanfenghe, also known as the 'Breeze-Ruffled Lotus at Quyuan,' is a tranquil park located along the northern shore of West Lake in Hangzhou. It is one of the Ten Scenes of West Lake, celebrated for its vast lotus ponds that burst into bloom in summer. The park features winding boardwalks that take you through the lotus fields, pavilions for resting, and traditional Chinese gardens. What makes it distinctive is the combination of cultural heritage and natural beauty: the park was originally a wine-making site during the Southern Song Dynasty, and the name references the aroma of lotus flowers mingling with the breeze. Visitors can stroll along the lakeside, watch locals practicing tai chi, or take a boat ride from the nearby dock. The park is less crowded than other West Lake attractions, offering a peaceful escape. In summer, the lotus flowers create a sea of pink and green, while in other seasons, the willows and bamboo provide a serene backdrop.

Ein Stück Geschichte

Quyuanfenghe dates back to the Southern Song Dynasty (1127–1279), when it was the site of an official winery. The scenic area was later named after the lotus ponds that were planted here, and it became one of the classic 'Ten Scenes of West Lake' as designated by Emperor Qianlong in the 18th century.
