Xiamen Bridge

Xiamen Bridge is a highway cross-sea bridge on the northwest area of Xiamen Island, in Xiamen, Fujian, China. It opened to traffic in May 1991 and was the first bridge in China to cross the sea. The main bridge is 2270 metres long and 23.5 metres wide, with four lanes in each direction.

A bit of history
Construction took place from October 1, 1987 to April 1991. Jiang Zemin, then General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party, created the calligraphy for the bridge's name. The ribbon-cutting was in 1991.
