Qirqqiz Fortress, meaning 'Forty Maidens,' is a rare circular medieval fortification dating to the 9th–10th centuries. Its distinctive design features a central courtyard surrounded by a ring of rooms, believed to have served as a caravanserai or military outpost. Local legend tells of forty brave maidens who defended the fortress against invaders. Visitors can climb the remaining walls for panoramic views of the surrounding desert landscape. The site's isolation adds to its mystique, offering a glimpse into the region's pre-Mongol Islamic era.
