The Kalyan Minaret, built in 1127, is a masterpiece of medieval Islamic architecture, soaring 47 meters above Bukhara's old city. Its baked brick facade features intricate geometric patterns, and it once served as a beacon for caravans. Visitors can admire its imposing presence from the surrounding square, but the interior is not open to the public. The minaret earned the nickname 'Tower of Death' because prisoners were once thrown from its top. Today, it stands as the centerpiece of the Po-i-Kalyan complex, floodlit at night.
