Outstanding little bistro type spot that I had the pleasure of having a late lunch in. I asked our waiter for his recommendation between the omelette and the turkey sandwich, and he explained the making of the turkey sandwich in such detail that I was sold. Sous vide turkey on their fresh made bread?? How could I turn that down. The sandwich lived up to his stellar description. Yum. I ate it all 🤤 The dark moody vibes of this place had me feeling right at home. I’m a sucker for low light. Beautiful, thoughtful interior design, and an open kitchen. Can’t wait to come back!
Excellent restaurant. Dined at the bar and really enjoyed the service and informed input of the bartender. The food was delicious. The Nantucket Bay Scallop appetizer was killer - served lukewarm (intentionally) and more like a crudo than a cooked scallop, which was a welcome change-up. Sauce was fresh and brought the dish together. Had the swordfish as my main. Wasn't cut or prepared like a typical swordfish steak you see in the grocery stores (or most restaurants) but more a chunk like a piece of Chilean sea bass. Again, a wonderful change-up. Wonderfully cooked - moist, just a tad pink and very flavorful. Sides that came along with it were delicious too. Dessert (Basque cheesecake) was fine, but I wouldn't really characterize it as similar to those I had in San Sebastian or knockoffs here in the States. Was more like a NY-style cheesecake with some ricotta mixed in and was missing the custard-like consistency, tang and char on the top of a Basque style. I'd skip the calories on this on a future visit. Also thought the main came out way too fast. Like 3 minutes after the order was placed it was arriving. Wasn't really a problem per se, but keep it in mind when ordering as the typical spacing between courses (or prep time) seem highly compressed. Overall, I really enjoyed my dinner and would definitely swing by again if in the area. Very creative preparations worth a visit!
Very nice place on Market Street in the Historic District. Classy, but understated decor. Welcoming staff. Some imaginative dishes, like swordfish with sorghum and hibiscus, well-executed. Everything done well.
I had dinner here about 20 years ago, & we just happened to get walking by, so we stopped in for lunch. We were fortunate enough to be seated right away & our Server quickly took our drink order. The menu offered a wide assortment of vegan, salads, soups & other heavier options. I went with the burger & it was even better than expected. Overall, a great experience & will definitely go back for dinner the next time in Philadelphia.
