- [ ] It has been quite a while since I enjoyed a meal at State of Grace. We used to love it but in recent years felt that the food had gone down hill. We were excited when the menu revamp was announced and made a Saturday night dinner reservation with friends. Upon arrival we were seated in the small side room that is used for private dining. Originally disappointed to not be in the main dining room, it ended up being nice because it was fairly quite. We placed cocktail drink right away but they didn't make it to the table for around 20 minutes. This remained the case for the entire meal. Things we liked - the complimentary bread service, tuna tartare. Things we didn't like - everything else. The filet, asparagus and cacio e pepe were all drowning in salt and butter. The chicken was just ok and even the texas pecan ball was too salty. Super disappointed because we used to love this neighborhood restaurant but the new menu, while bigger, is not better than the old one.
One of the best restaurant serving American cuisine. Highly recommended for friends and families. Everything here is high quality with delicious ingredients. Their menu is simple but deep . Jamila and Perveen are v friendly. They serve us v nicely.
Quite possibly the most over priced business dinner (planned as a celebration) combined with appalling service and very average food - well, terrible for the price charged. So much wrong with the place that it’s difficult to know where to start. What’s worse was that even when issues were pointed out the service didn’t improve. We arrived at 5:30pm but didn’t get served our entre until after 8pm.
Great ambiance, cool active oyster shucking area! Crab hush puppies dusted with powdered sugar. Nice wine selection. Very well dressed proper waiter. Top notch service. Tasty flavored baked redfish, 1/2 baked chicken in cream sauce, get the black rice, WOW! Overall great experience, even let us bring a small cake to celebrate & the presentation of that was unexpected!
