Lucille’s is a gem of a restaurant! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere and friendly staff. I indulged in some of the most delicious desserts I’ve ever had—perfectly baked pies with flaky crusts, rich and creamy cheesecakes, and brownies so decadent they practically melt in your mouth. The savory dishes were just as impressive. Their slow-cooked barbecue, flavorful sides, and tender, juicy chicken were all cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor in every bite. It’s a true culinary delight that left me wanting more!
Our first visit to Houston and Lucille's was on our must visit list. We arrived shortly after they opened for lunch. There's only a valet ($10) or street parking. We were seated immediately but noticed two other tables had been seated before us. After 10 minutes of waiting, I finally asked the hostess for the waiter. During this time, another table walked out. Quincy and Sheldon finally arrived at ask for our drinks. It was Sheldon's first day, and Q was training him. Q was not very pleasant and treated the other guests with more hospitality than he did us. He did not give an overview of the menu, did not ask if we had questions, did not ask if our food was OK, did not disclose there was a separate kids menu, and did not provide a receipt even though I said yes when he asked if I wanted a copy. I decided that at this point $70 was enough for a drink, appetizer, and meal for my kid. I didn't even order the entree I wanted to try because the service was so poor. I addressed all of this to him as we were leaving. He would not face me or look at me while I was explaining that his customer service left a lot to be desired. He did not care that he didn't present his best as the "face of the restaurant." I highly recommend AVOIDING this restaurant. *Sheldon was nice, personable, and tried to engage me in conversation when he noticed the poor service but Q kept telling him to "keep it moving"
We were hungry and they did not disappoint! The chicken and waffles, hot chicken sandwich and Mac and cheese hit the spot. Cocktails were great as well. Service was friendly and quick too. Great spot to visit if you're hungry after a day of enjoying museums.
The atmosphere was inviting and the menu has our favorites like shrimp and fried green tomatoes. We also liked the chicken sandwich, which was well prepared and delicious.
