Bidean nam Bian, meaning 'Peak of the Mountains', rises to 1,150 metres as the highest point in the Glen Coe area. It is a complex massif with several ridges and corries, providing a range of mountaineering experiences from straightforward hillwalking to challenging rock climbs. The most popular route starts from the Lost Valley (Coire Gabhail), a hidden glen with a dramatic history as a hiding place for stolen cattle. Ascending through this valley leads to the summit ridge, where you are rewarded with sweeping views over Glen Coe, Loch Leven, and the surrounding highlands. The mountain is also home to the famous Church Door Buttress, a popular climbing venue. A full day is needed for the ascent, and good navigation skills are essential in poor visibility.
