Dove Cottage, a modest 17th-century cottage in Grasmere, was the home of William Wordsworth from 1799 to 1808. Here, he wrote much of his greatest poetry, including 'I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud.' The museum next door displays manuscripts, personal items, and exhibits on the Romantic poets. Visitors can tour the cottage's cozy rooms, furnished as they were in Wordsworth's time, and stroll through the tranquil garden that inspired his verse. It's an intimate glimpse into the poet's daily life and creative process.
Don't miss
- Tour the cottage's rooms, including Wordsworth's study and the kitchen.
