Arkhip Kuindzhi (1842–1910) was a Russian landscape painter known for his mastery of light and color. He taught at the Imperial Academy of Arts and later founded his own studio. The apartment on Makarova Embankment served as his home and workspace, and after his death, it was preserved by his wife and later turned into a museum.
