The Annunciation Bridge, also known as Blagoveshchensky Bridge, is one of the oldest and most elegant bridges in St. Petersburg, crossing the Neva River near the city center. Built in the mid-19th century, it was the first permanent bridge across the Neva and features a distinctive cast-iron railing and stone arches. The bridge is a working drawbridge, rising nightly during navigation season to allow ships to pass. Visitors can walk across the bridge to enjoy panoramic views of the river, the Winter Palace, and the Peter and Paul Fortress. At night, the bridge is beautifully illuminated, making it a popular spot for photographers and romantics. Its location connects Vasilievsky Island with the central part of the city, making it a key transportation link as well as a landmark.
