Colonial Park Cemetery is one of Savannah's oldest cemeteries, established in 1750 and serving as the city's primary burial ground for nearly a century. The park-like grounds are shaded by live oaks and filled with moss-covered headstones, including those of signers of the Declaration of Independence and victims of the 1820 yellow fever epidemic. Visitors can spot bullet holes from the Civil War and read the poignant epitaphs; guided tours often recount tales of duels, burials, and restless spirits.
