Ness Islands are two small, tree-covered islands in the River Ness, linked to each other and to the riverbanks by charming Victorian footbridges. A network of gravel paths winds through mature Scots pines and beeches, making it a favorite spot for a short nature walk or jog without leaving the city. Benches along the river provide quiet vantage points to watch the water flow. The islands are especially atmospheric in autumn when the foliage turns golden, and in winter when frost coats the branches.

Don't miss

  • Cross the suspension footbridges for views of the river and surrounding greenery
  • Spot red squirrels and a variety of birds among the woodland
  • Follow the circular path around both islands for a complete loop
