HMS Unicorn is one of the oldest British-built warships still afloat, launched in 1824. This preserved frigate offers visitors a chance to explore the cramped quarters of a 19th-century naval vessel, from the gun decks to the captain's cabin. What makes it distinctive is its remarkably intact condition, with original fittings and a unique 'unrigged' appearance, it never received its full masts. Visitors can climb through the ship's narrow passageways, see the cannons, and learn about life at sea during the Age of Sail.
Don't miss
- Explore the lower gun deck to see the ship's original cannons and carronades.
- Climb down into the orlop deck to see the surgeon's quarters and sick berth.
- Visit the captain's cabin to view period furnishings and understand command life.
