Conwy's town walls form one of the best-preserved medieval defensive circuits in Europe, built concurrently with the castle between 1283 and 1287. The walls stretch about 1.3 kilometers (0.8 miles) and include 21 towers and three original gateways, enclosing the old town. Walking the entire circuit offers a unique perspective on Conwy's medieval layout and provides stunning views of the castle, harbor, and surrounding countryside. The walls are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and are freely accessible to the public.

Don't miss

  • Walk the full circuit for a complete view of Conwy's medieval townscape and harbor.
  • Climb the towers along the way for elevated photo opportunities of the castle and Snowdonia.
  • Pass through the three original gateways: Upper Gate, Mill Gate, and King's Gate.
