The Monument to Humanity, also known as the Kars Monument, is a striking 32-meter-tall sculpture designed by artist Mehmet Aksoy. It depicts two half-figures reaching toward each other, intended to represent reconciliation and unity between Turks and Armenians. Erected in 2006 on a hill overlooking Kars, the monument sparked controversy and was partially demolished in 2011, leaving only the lower sections. Despite its damaged state, the site remains a poignant symbol of peace and a popular spot for reflection. Visitors can walk around the base, read interpretive plaques, and enjoy panoramic views of the city.
