The Historic Town of Sukhothai and Associated Historic Towns is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that encompasses the ruins of three major centers of the Sukhothai Kingdom: Sukhothai, Si Satchanalai, and Kamphaeng Phet. Each site offers unique temple complexes and city walls set in lush landscapes. Si Satchanalai, about 50 km north, features Wat Phra Si Rattana Mahathat and a more rural setting. Kamphaeng Phet, to the south, includes both city and forest temples. Together they provide a comprehensive view of early Thai urban planning and religious architecture.

Don't miss

  • The combined park of Si Satchanalai with its hilltop temples
  • Kamphaeng Phet's forest monastery zone with large chedis
  • The interconnected history visible across all three sites
