The Baiyoke Sky Tower was for years Bangkok's tallest building, and its observation deck remains a popular, good-value way to take in the sprawling, low-rise immensity of the Thai capital. On the 77th floor there's an enclosed observation deck, and above it on the 84th a famous open-air revolving roof deck that slowly rotates to give a 360° panorama over the endless city, the Chao Phraya River, and (on clear days) far into the distance. It's especially atmospheric at sunset and after dark.

The tower sits within a hotel in the Pratunam district, near the city's huge garment markets. While newer, taller skyscrapers now exist, Baiyoke's revolving open-air deck is a distinctive experience, and the ticket often includes a drink. Go toward dusk for the city by day and lit up at night.
