Ciyou Temple, also known as Songshan Ciyou Temple, is a dazzling Taoist temple dedicated to the sea goddess Mazu. Built in 1753, it is one of Taipei's oldest temples, yet its vibrant colors and intricate carvings remain immaculate. The temple's facade is adorned with gold leaf, intricate stone dragons, and vivid murals depicting scenes from Chinese folklore. Inside, the main hall houses a revered statue of Mazu, flanked by guardians. The temple is a hub of activity, especially during festivals, when parades and performances fill the streets. Its location next to Raohe Night Market makes it easy to combine a spiritual visit with a food crawl.
