The Lion of Al-lāt is a powerful symbol of Palmyra's religious art. This 3.5-meter-tall statue once stood at the entrance of the Temple of Al-lāt, the goddess of fertility. The lion, with its paw over a gazelle, represents protection and strength. Damaged by ISIS in 2015, it has been restored and now stands in the Palmyra Museum, a testament to resilience.
