Straight Street (Via Recta) is the ancient east-west artery of Damascus, famously referenced in the Bible's Acts of the Apostles as the street where Paul stayed after his conversion. Today, it remains a bustling commercial spine of the Old City, flanked by stone buildings housing textile shops, spice vendors, and cafes. The street's Roman-era colonnades have largely disappeared, but its straight trajectory and vibrant souk atmosphere endure. Walking its length offers a tangible connection to biblical history amid the daily life of modern Damascus.

  • Browse shops selling traditional textiles, spices, and Damascene crafts
