Lake Zug is a serene Alpine lake that forms the heart of Zug's recreational life. Its clear waters are framed by the old town on one side and gentle hills on the other, with the snow-capped Alps visible on clear days. The lakeside promenade stretches for several kilometers, perfect for walking, jogging, or cycling. In summer, locals and visitors swim at designated beaches like the Strandbad Zug, or rent paddleboats and stand-up paddleboards. Boat cruises operated by the Zugersee Schifffahrt offer leisurely tours around the lake, with stops at nearby towns like Arth and Immensee. The lakefront is also dotted with restaurants and beer gardens where you can enjoy a meal with a view. In winter, the lake sometimes freezes, allowing ice skating and curling.
