Perched atop the Valère hill, the Valère Basilica (Basilique de Valère) is a fortified church that offers sweeping views over Sion and the Rhone valley. The basilica is best known for its remarkable pipe organ, built in the 14th century and still playable today, one of the oldest in the world. Visitors can climb the hill via a winding path or drive up, then enter the church to see the organ's ornate case and hear it during occasional concerts. The interior is simple but atmospheric, with Romanesque and Gothic elements, including a wooden ceiling and frescoes. The site also houses a small museum (Musée de Valère) with religious artifacts.
