Lac du Mont d'Orge is a picturesque artificial lake located on a hillside above Sion, offering stunning views of the Rhône valley and surrounding Alpine peaks. The lake is a popular spot for leisurely walks, picnics, and nature observation. A well-maintained trail encircles the lake, about 1.5 kilometers long, suitable for all fitness levels. Along the way, benches and lookout points invite visitors to pause and take in the scenery. The area is also home to diverse birdlife, including swans and ducks. In summer, the lake is a refreshing escape from the valley heat, while autumn brings vibrant foliage. The site is free to access and easily reached from Sion by a short drive or bus ride.
