Val Roseg is a pristine U-shaped valley carved by the Roseg Glacier, located just south of Pontresina. The valley floor is a mix of alpine meadows, larch forests, and the milky-blue Roseg River fed by glacial melt. A gravel road leads into the valley, but motorized vehicles are prohibited, preserving its tranquility. Visitors can explore on foot, by bicycle, or via a traditional horse-drawn carriage (Kutsche) from Pontresina. The valley is a haven for wildlife: keep an eye out for ibex, chamois, marmots, and golden eagles. The trail ends at the Roseg Glacier viewpoint, where you can see the ice face and the small Roseg Lake. In autumn, the larch trees turn a brilliant gold, creating a stunning contrast with the snow-capped peaks. The valley also offers several mountain huts, such as Chamanna da Tschierva, for overnight stays or refreshments.
