Rocher des Tablettes is a striking limestone cliff that juts out over the Areuse Gorge, providing one of the most spectacular viewpoints in the Neuchâtel region. The site is accessible via a short but steep hike from the village of Boudry or from the gorge below. Once at the top, visitors are rewarded with a breathtaking panorama of the gorge, the river Areuse winding below, and the distant Alps. The rock itself is flat-topped, giving it the name 'Tablettes' (little tables). It is a popular spot for photographers, nature lovers, and those seeking a dramatic natural setting. The surrounding area is part of a nature reserve, with rich flora and fauna, including rare orchids in spring. The cliff is also a known nesting site for peregrine falcons.

Don't miss

  • Panoramic view from the top of the cliff over the Areuse Gorge
  • Short but rewarding hike from Boudry or along the Areuse Gorge trail
  • Peregrine falcon watching (spring and summer)
  • Wild orchids and other rare plants in the surrounding meadows
  • Photography opportunities at sunrise or sunset
