Grand Som Martel is a 1,332-meter peak in the Neuchâtel Jura, offering one of the most expansive views in the region. On clear days, you can see the Alps from Mont Blanc to the Bernese Oberland, as well as Lake Neuchâtel and the French Jura. The summit is marked by a large cross and a orientation table. Hiking trails approach from several directions, passing through forests and pastures. The area is popular for both summer hiking and winter snowshoeing. A nearby restaurant provides a welcome stop for traditional Swiss fare. The mountain is less known than some neighbors, providing a quieter experience. The trail from the village of La Sagne is particularly scenic.
