The Jungfrau (4,158 m) is one of the iconic peaks of the Bernese Alps, flanked by the Mönch and Eiger. While the summit itself is reserved for experienced mountaineers, most visitors experience the mountain from the Jungfraujoch saddle, which sits between the Jungfrau and Mönch. From the Sphinx Observatory or the Plateau, you get a direct view of the Jungfrau's snowy slopes and the Aletsch Glacier flowing from its base. The mountain's name means 'maiden' in German, reflecting its pristine, snow-covered appearance. The Jungfrau Railway, which ends at Jungfraujoch, was originally intended to reach the summit but was halted due to cost and difficulty.

Don't miss
