Oeschinen Lake is one of Switzerland's most beautiful alpine lakes, nestled in the Bernese Oberland above Kandersteg. The lake's vivid turquoise color, fed by glacial meltwater, contrasts with the surrounding limestone peaks and lush green meadows. Visitors can reach the lake via a scenic cable car ride from Kandersteg followed by a gentle 20-minute walk, or by a more challenging hike from the valley. Once there, you can walk around the lake on a well-maintained trail, enjoy a picnic with breathtaking views, or rent a rowboat to glide across the crystal-clear water. The area is also a starting point for longer hikes, including the famous trail to the Bluemlisalphütte. In summer, the lake is a popular spot for swimming, though the water remains chilly. The dramatic backdrop of the Doldenhorn and Fründenhorn peaks makes every view postcard-perfect. This is a quintessential Swiss alpine experience, offering tranquility and natural beauty away from the crowds.
