The Chapel of Notre-Dame des Marches stands on a wooded hill overlooking the village of Broc, just a few kilometers from Gruyères. This small but richly decorated chapel has been a place of pilgrimage since the 17th century, dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The exterior is modest, but inside you'll find a magnificent baroque altar adorned with gilded woodwork, colorful frescoes, and intricate stucco decorations. The chapel's interior is a surprise gem of religious art, with paintings depicting scenes from the life of Mary and the saints. The peaceful setting, surrounded by trees and with views of the surrounding countryside, adds to the spiritual atmosphere. Visitors often come to light a candle, enjoy the quiet, or simply admire the craftsmanship. The chapel is still used for occasional services and remains an active pilgrimage site, especially on the Feast of the Assumption.
