The Jet d'Eau is Geneva's most recognizable landmark, shooting water 140 meters into the air from Lake Geneva. Originally built in 1886 as a pressure relief valve for a hydraulic power network, it has become a beloved symbol of the city. Visitors can watch the fountain from the lakeside promenade, feel the spray on a breezy day, and capture stunning photos, especially when the sun creates rainbows in the mist. At night, the fountain is illuminated, offering a magical view. The Jet d'Eau operates daily, weather permitting, and is free to view. It's a must-see for anyone visiting Geneva.
