Hikkaduwa National Park is a protected marine area spanning about 100 hectares, centered on a fringing coral reef just offshore. Visitors can snorkel or dive among staghorn and brain corals, encountering green sea turtles, parrotfish, and reef sharks. Glass-bottom boat tours offer an alternative for non-swimmers. The park's calm, clear waters make it one of Sri Lanka's most accessible snorkeling destinations, but coral bleaching has impacted some sections. Conservation efforts are ongoing, and responsible tourism is encouraged.

Don't miss

  • Snorkel with sea turtles in the shallow reef lagoon
  • Spot colorful reef fish like clownfish and angelfish
