The 2004 Sri Lanka tsunami train wreck memorial stands near the coastal railway line south of Hikkaduwa, commemorating the Ocean Queen Express disaster. On December 26, 2004, a packed train was struck by the tsunami waves, resulting in the deaths of more than 1,000 people. Today, a whitewashed monument with a cross and plaques lists the names of victims. The site includes remnants of the train and a small museum with photographs. It serves as a somber reminder of the tragedy and a place for reflection.
