Satmahal Prasada is an unusual seven-story brick tower standing in the quadrangle of Polonnaruwa. Unlike the typical stupas and image houses, this structure is a tall, stepped pyramid, possibly influenced by Khmer architecture. Only the lower levels remain intact, but its distinctive shape makes it a standout monument. Visitors can climb the narrow steps to get a closer look at the brickwork and imagine its original height.
Don't miss
- Count the remaining stories, only four of the original seven survive.
