Lovamahapaya, or the Brazen Palace, was a towering nine-story building built by King Dutugemunu in the 2nd century BCE. Though the wooden superstructure is long gone, the site preserves 1600 granite pillars that once supported the floors. Visitors walk among these columns, imagining the scale of this ancient monastery that housed 1000 monks. It remains a powerful symbol of Anuradhapura's architectural ambition.
