Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi is a sacred fig tree in Anuradhapura, believed to be a sapling from the tree under which Buddha attained enlightenment. Planted in 288 BCE, it is the oldest historically authenticated tree on earth. Visitors can walk the serene grounds, see the golden fence protecting the tree, and observe devotees offering prayers.
